Alexia Muíños Ruiz
Director of Programmes, European Women’s Audiovisual Network (EWA) , Spain

Alexia is a filmmaker born in La Coruña, Spain. She received her MS in Chemistry and studied Violoncello at the Conservatory of Music before leaving for Barcelona where she extended her education by graduating in Film Studies. Her training was completed in New York City with a scholarship from the Galician government. 

She is enthusiastic and creative with a wide experience in the audiovisual industry and performing arts. Alexia has attended masterclasses with Abbas Kiarostami, Martin Scorsese, Asghar Farhadi, Jane Campion, Céline Sciamma and Mark Cousins. For the past years, she has been working in the Film/Advertising Industry and founded her production company Marineda Films.

 

Alexia joined the European Women’s Audiovisual Network (EWA) in 2013 and currently, she is EWA Network’s Director of Programmes. She has devised ad hoc programming for film professionals combining her interest in science and sustainability with gender equity. 

Deeply committed to the women’s cause, she is also a co-founder of the Catalan Women Film Association, Dones Visuals.
