Petr Salaba

Petr is a film director, producer, and science communicator based in Prague. His work explores the dynamics of autonomous systems interacting with human values. Often using contrasting experimental forms, visual immersion and satirical humor. 

His latest project Anamnesis (2024), an AI chatbot simulating suffering and empathy, was part of CPH:LAB. In 2023, Petr released Scalespace, a film co-created with generative AI that visualizes the epic journey of biological, cultural, and digital evolution across different time scales. Parts of the film are uniquely generated for each new screening. 

His earlier work, Attention Economy (2019), was nominated for Best Czech Documentary at the Ji.hlava International Film Festival. Additionally, his film llllllIIIIl (2017) won Best Czech and Slovak Popular Science Film at the AFO festival in Olomouc. 

He is also interested in embodied cognition (thinking with our body) and natural communication with horses.
