A timeless gem that stands up to the competition of the best science fiction series, reminiscent of big-budget blockbusters like Westworld. Real Humans was made on an incomparably smaller budget, yet a decade ago in Sweden, thanks to an elegant design, a great script and great acting, the creators managed to make a very believable series about the complicated relationship between humans and robots, which deals with social issues a little more than with philosophical questions about the nature of humanity. In the first season, we follow an attempted robot rebellion and the lives of several Swedish families whose internal dynamics are changed by the purchase of a domestic robot. Real people are addressing the topic of replacing human labor with technology, the possibilities of using it for care, and all that humans often lack – just any void can be filled by the presence of robots.
