Q&A’s after the screening with author and screenwriter Thomas Pletzinger and actress Anne Ratte-Polle.
Daniel Mandelkern, an ethnologist and journalist in personal crisis, travels to northern Italy to interview the mysterious author of an enigmatic children’s bestseller, Mark Svensson. At the same time, as he tries to get to the bottom of Svensson’s relationship with a Finnish woman Tuuli, to whom fate has already bound him on the plane journey, we also follow a second storyline. In the latter, the young Svensson volunteers with a friend in Colombia, where he meets Tuuli. The mini-series with a movie feel is an adaptation of Thomas Pletzinger’s world-famous novel that spans several continents. With a slightly dreamlike atmosphere, it breaks away from a sense of the everydayness as we work with Mandelkern to understand both Svensson’s life story and his own.
