An inconspicuous masterpiece by the award-winning Bosnian director and screenwriter Jasmila Žbanić, the author of Grbavica or Quo vadis, Aida?, who also has a directing credit on an episode of the American megahit TV series Last Of Us, titled Kin. Together with screenwriter Elma Tataragić, they wrote the script for six episodes set in contemporary Sarajevo, where prosecutor Nevena is called to the scene of a teenager’s suicide. It soon becomes clear that he and his classmate were bullied by a group of school cool kids. However, Nevena’s son is among them. Although Nevena has a good relationship with him, after her divorce from his father she is in a difficult situation that is now turning into a nightmare. The parents of the murdered boy start politicizing the case in the media and the unsolved incident becomes a drama watched by the whole nation. The series cleverly doses us with information so that we are not sure for a long time who is really responsible for what, while at the same time giving a complex portrayal of the main characters and the atmosphere of mistrust in Bosnia today. The main character wonders how well she knows her child, who she can trust, and meanwhile her well-ordered life is falling apart piece by piece.
