Q&A after the screening.
The suspenseful, darkly lit, yet complex drama Red Light, which made it to last year’s Canneseries Best TV Series selection, perfectly utilizes the often-themed problems of the human body trade in the Benelux countries.
The drama starring Carice Van Houten is not a conventional crime drama set in the “red light district”, but a powerful drama about power, female identity and sexuality in a patriarchal world where the heroines become painfully aware of their position. Van Houten, the lead star and co-writer of the subject, plays one of three heroines coming from very different social spheres. They unexpectedly find themselves in a situation where they need each other. This Belgian drama confirms the worldwide trend of interest in subjects related to female roles.
