It’s winter shortly before Christmas and a Stockholm suburb is paralysed by a snowstorm. Jenni, mother of five-month-old Lukas and her school-going daughter Nicole, wakes up only to discover that the crib is empty and the baby gone. She begins a desperate search. In other plotlines, the series follows a nurse visited by her brother and an experienced policewoman who is on duty during Christmas. Suspenseful, dark and empathetic to the characters, this drama series with thriller elements examines the pressures and prejudices felt by mothers in developed societies. The story, in which the lives of three women intersect, is deeply focused on the characters, their life contexts and possibilities. The series is another collaboration between Swedish and Danish public broadcasters, whose previous joint projects include the legendary Broen (The Bridge).
