Julie is twenty-nine, has no children, no boyfriend, just a student loan and an internship at an architecture studio. She has just been to look at a new place to live – in an underground garage. Meanwhile, the prestigious firm she is interning for is thinking of building a thousand new apartments in the centre of Oslo. And Julie immediately gets a brilliant idea… The darkly funny dystopia in which dogs are walked by drones and you can linger on the streets of the sterile Scandinavian city for free for only a few minutes if you do not buy a drink, sarcastically comments on the manifestations of today’s housing crisis, inequality, individualisation and loneliness. The brilliantly cast Norwegian series, which took home a special mention at the Berlinale, is one of the unusual, original titles that others take inspiration from. The series is screened in collaboration with the Film and Architecture Festival.
Q&A’s after the screening with screenwriter Kristian Kilde.
