“On September 1, 1939, Hitler invaded Poland and World War II began. Brave Norwegians began to establish movements to resist the Nazi forces. Some gained fame, others were forgotten.” The Norwegian web series tells the story of the fictional Thorvald group, which never gained fame but had one big advantage for its members – it worked as a low-threshold workshop for anyone who did not want to sit at home with their wife and wanted to see action. This Norwegian comedy makes fun of heroism and masculinity not only to make us laugh with the contrast of everyday banalities and the backdrop of the struggle against oppression, but mainly to undermine the traditional narrative of Norway’s role in World War II.
