The Croatian mini-series Guardian of the Castle was awarded as the best television serial. Mislav Brumec, its author himself, came to take the award. The international jury consisting of exceptional producers and academics from Norway, Sweden, Great Britain, Germany and Denmark gives reasons for their decision: “This intriguing and emotionally involving series, with its believable and powerfully played characters, atmospherically captures the historical period of former Yugoslavia and its chaos from the inside, and leaves the audience wanting more.”
The jury stated to be positively surprised by high level of the competition and awarded Special Mention prize to the ten-part Estonian drama The Bank for being “eccentric and brave in its evocation of the absurdities of Estonia after the fall of the Iron Curtain.” The award was collected by the director Paul Aguraiuja in person.
The best online serial award remains in the Czech Republic. It was given to authors of The Line, a series from ice-hockey background. The jury appreciated its “verbal and situation comic, a sensitive performance of Jiří Langmajer, professional direction and great skating skills”. The award was collected by the director Vladimír Skórka.
