Few people would be excited about moving to a high mountain town where only a handful of people live. But the family of the Viennese doctor Lucia is looking forward to moving here, and not just because the little daughter will be cured of her asthma here. Lucia’s husband has roots here that he is about to rediscover. And maybe not only him. It soon becomes clear that Lucia is more connected to the place than she thinks. The climatic horror and detective story in one has a superbly constructed atmosphere that benefits from the fears experienced in a time of increasingly frequent weather fluctuations and generational clashes. It tells a story that threatens to shatter the main character’s life into a thousand pieces, but also gives hope that everything can turn out well. Even where the hills are streaming water, even though the snow is not melting.
