Selftape

Origin and Year: Spain, 2023 Director: Bàrbara Farré
Runnning time: 2 x 35 min

Joana and Mireia are sisters. In life and in the series. In life, they are well-known actresses from a teen TV phenomenon about a children’s hospital called Red Band Society, which also has an American remake. They wrote the series called Selftape with several other creators about their own experiences as child stars. The intimate testimony of a pair of young heroines concerns not only the constant judgement of their faces, bodies and behaviour by people in the entertainment industry, but everyday life full of insecurity, disappointment, comparing and moments when nothing makes sense even though someone has just handed you an award. It honestly portrays their relationship with each other, which is put to a severe test when Mireia returns from Norway, where she succeeds as an actress.
