Pavel is the CEO and co-founder of Negativ, one of the leading film production companies in the Czech Republic.
During his 30-year career as a producer, Pavel won two European Film Academy Awards (René – Best Documentary in 2008 and Alois Nebel – Best Animation Feature in 2012) and five Czech Film Academy awards. He received the Crystal Globe at the Karlovy Vary IFF in 2002 for Year of the Devil and the Golden Shell for Something Like Happiness at the San Sebastián IFF in 2005.
He has also been involved in many international co-productions, working with leading European producers like Why Not Productions and Pandora Film Produktion. He is currently preparing a two-part period drama Gerta Schnirch in co-production with Czech TV and developing the TV series Last Goddess (Žítkovské bohyně) based on the bestseller by Czech writer Kateřina Tučková.
Pavel served as the chairman of the Czech Producers’ Association (APA) between 2001-2017 and was involved in creating the new Czech Film Fund. He is a long-time member of the ACE Producers network and the European Film Academy and teaches film production and dramaturgy at FAMU in Prague.
